AFTER a LOCAL DENTAL INJECTION
Your lip, tongue, and cheek may be numb for 1 to 4 hours and sometimes even longer following a local anesthetic injection. Avoid chewing or drinking hot beverages until your numbness has worn off completely to prevent burning or biting your lips, tongue, and cheek. As the numbness goes away, you may feel a tingling sensation until it completely wares off.
